Biography
Israel Falade is a fourth-year medical student at UCSF, currently on a Yearlong Research Fellowship. He is studying the impact of surgical weight loss on breast tissue and the breast cancer screening experience, titled B-BRITE (Bariatric Breast Results in Testing Experience). In addition to his work on B-BRITE, Israel is actively engaged in projects centered around a large institutional cohort of patients with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). His primary focus is to investigate the association between obesity and the choice of mastectomy with or without reconstruction or breast conservation with or without an oncoplastic approach. Furthermore, he will simultaneously be exploring complication rates based on the surgical procedure for patients with an elevated BMI. Israel's other academic interests include mentorship and optimizing outcomes in soft tissue reconstructive techniques. Prior to UCSF, Israel received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in 2019.
